Dhyanam - Invocation
सिन्दूरारुण विग्रहां त्रिनयनां माणिक्यमौलि स्फुरत्
तारानायक शेखरां स्मितमुखीं आपीन वक्षोरुहाम् ।
पाणिभ्यामलिपूर्ण रत्नचषकं रक्तोत्पलं बिभ्रतीं
सौम्यां रत्नघटस्थ रक्तचरणां ध्यायेत्परामम्बिकाम् ॥
Sinduraruna vigraham trinayanam manikya-mauli sphurat
taranayaka shekharam smita-mukhim apina vakshoruham |
panibhyam alipurna ratna-chashakam raktotpalam bibhratim
saumyam ratna-ghatastha rakta-charanam dhyayet param ambikam ||
Meditate on the Supreme Mother, radiant like vermilion, three-eyed, crowned with
jewels and the crescent moon, smiling gently, holding a jeweled cup and red lotus, with graceful crimson
feet.
Shloka 1 - Sri Mata
श्रीमाता श्रीमहाराज्ञी श्रीमत्सिंहासनेश्वरी ।
चिदग्निकुण्डसम्भूता देवकार्यसमुद्यता ॥
Sri Mata Sri Maharajni Srimat-simhasaneshvari |
Chidagni-kunda-sambhuta Deva-karya-samudyata ||
She is the auspicious Mother, the great queen, and sovereign of the divine throne.
She arises from the fire of pure consciousness to fulfill the work of the devas.
Shloka 2 - Udyad Bhanu
उद्यद्भानुसहस्राभा चतुर्बाहुसमन्विता ।
रागस्वरूपपाशाढ्या क्रोधाकाराङ्कुशोज्ज्वला ॥
Udyad-bhanu-sahasrabha chatur-bahu-samanvita |
Raga-svarupa-pashadhya krodhakarankushojjvala ||
She shines like a thousand rising suns and appears with four arms. Her noose is
the power of divine love, and her goad is the luminous force that redirects anger and ego.
Shloka 3 - Manorupa
मनोरूपेक्षुकोदण्डा पञ्चतन्मात्रसायका ।
निजारुणप्रभापूरमज्जद्ब्रह्माण्डमण्डला ॥
Manorupekshu-kodanda pancha-tanmatra-sayaka |
Nijaruna-prabha-pura-majjad-brahmanda-mandala ||
Her sugarcane bow is the mind, and her five arrows are the subtle elements. The
universe is bathed in the flood of her own crimson radiance.
Shloka 4 - Champaka Garland
चम्पकाशोकपुन्नागसौगन्धिकलसत्कचा ।
कुरुविन्दमणिश्रेणीकनत्कोटीरमण्डिता ॥
Champakashoka-punnaga-saugandhika-lasat-kacha |
Kuruvinda-mani-shreni-kanat-kotira-mandita ||
Her hair is fragrant with champaka, ashoka, punnaga, and other blossoms. Her crown
glows with rows of radiant rubies.
Shloka 5 - Ashtami Chandra
अष्टमीचन्द्रविभ्राजदलिकस्थलशोभिता ।
मुखचन्द्रकलङ्काभमृगनाभिविशेषका ॥
Ashtami-chandra-vibhraja-dalika-sthala-shobhita |
Mukha-chandra-kalankabha-mriganabhi-visheshaka ||
Her forehead shines like the eighth-day moon, and the musk mark on her face is
like the gentle beauty seen upon the moon.
